Clash of the Titans: Inter Milan battles Barcelona in the first semifinal of the Champions League

Monday, May 16th, 2011

They meet for the third time this Champions League season, at it will be a tough game just like the prior ones. Barcelona was forced to travel to Italy by bus, but that is no excuse to fail at this point. Guardiola plans to use his most lethal footballers against Mourinho’s side.

Inter is having some troubles at the domestic league – they just lost the pole position to AS Rome – but Wesley Sneijder, Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito are too hazardous, and Guardiola is aware of this.

One of the most atractive facts of this game is that strikers from both sides will face their former teams: Samuel Eto’o spend many seasons at Barcelona, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the frontman of Inter for many years. All these ingredients make of this the most expected games in years.

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona: Josep Guardiola and Mourinho heat up the “clasico”

Monday, May 2nd, 2011
This Champions League semifinal is not just yet another one. Actual Madrid will face Barcelona&nbspin the third “clasico” this month. And both coaches have expressed explosive statements in the previous hours.
Mourinho assured that “we have had two groups of coaches so far. Those ones who never complain about the referees, and those ones who clomplains of the ref’s errors – such as me. But Guardiola has began a new era, a new group -with 1 individual, him – of coaches that complain about the referee’s good decisions”.
Following those words, Guardiola lost his usual politeness and blasted back: “I’ve worked with Mourinho and I know him very properly. In this room, he is the f*** boss and the 1 who knows everything. That’s fine, I don’t care if he feels good that way. Off the pitch, he has already won his specific Champions League. On the pitch, we will try to play very good football and win the game”.

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona: Messi brights against 10-man rival

Friday, April 22nd, 2011
Lionel Messi is one of those players that show their value in the most challenging moments. He was born to make history, and that is exactly what he did at the Santiago Bernabeu. Ten-man Actual Madrid could not stop the Argentinian footballer, who scored a double. Barcelona’s -2 win over Madrid virtually seals their ticket for the Champions League final.
Yet another gifted footballer was on the pitch. But Cristiano Ronaldo was not meant to be the hero tonight. In truth, this third “clasico” was the most rough 1, with too much violence and quite little space for excellent football.
Now Mourinho’s side should get at least 3 goals in Barcelona, and attempt not to obtain any. Actual Madrid coach already said that “it is mission impossible. We lost to a amazing team, but it is a shame to have referees that constantly support Barcelona”.
Guardiola said this is an essential victory, but he expects to see a die-hard Actual Madrid in the second leg of this semifinal: “a club with nine European titles in no way give up just before playing the game”.

Barcelona proved to be far superior than Actual Madrid – even with Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka. The new version of the “Dream Team” consists of World Champions Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Puyol, Busquets, Pedro and Pique. What’s far more: they also have Lionel Messi, one of the most amazing footballers in history. Journalists, footballers and coaches around the world say that there is no team that could in fact beat them.
But Ferguson’s Manchester United could be the only team around potent enough to defeat Barcelona. The Old Trafford club has explosive strikers such as Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Berbatov and Nani. They are absolute leaders of the Premier League and crushed Schalke 04 in the Champions League semis.
No 1 can tell for certain which are favorites for this game. The globe expects to see a distinctive clash on Might 28.
