It was a rapidly start off by Manchester United finding a objective 36 seconds into the game when Javier Hernandez got behind the defense. United added another when Vidic headed in a Ryan Giggs cross in the 23rd minute. Chelsea got one back via Frank Lampard just before the 70th minute, but even after that they never really sustained attacks and in a lot of methods had been lucky to not conceded much more objectives.

Nonetheless, the factor that I most noted in this game was the end of the Chelsea midfield. The group seems to have deteriorated. Frank Lampard looks a shell of a player he utilized to be, but Michael Essien has lost a step as he by no means when unleashed a classic run into the attacking third. Ramires has energy, but there is a lack of penetration that effort alone can’t accomplish. They are one of the few top teams that had been not able to overpower the United midfield. Furthermore, they don’t have any true wingers to maximize the play on the wings.

That is where Manchester United won the league, in my opinion. Their forwards have hat hot and cold spells and the midfield has not been overpowering, but there have been few games when Manchester United hasn’t dominated the wings and that is one of the greatest factors they will likely be crowned champions once again. In this game, Manchester United showed off all of their strengths. Rooney and Hernandez were menaces for the defense. Valencia destroyed Ashley Cole. Carrick and Giggs were composed and the defense dealt with most threats.

Going back to Chelsea, the team could be ready for a decent overhaul. The defense appears solid but there are problems of depth and David Luiz needs a lot more encounter as he made a number of mistakes in the 1st half which includes not communicating nicely with John Terry on the first goal. The attack looks to want lots of retooling. Malouda and Kalou have flashes but not consistent. However, the larger problem is Drogba and Torres not playing nicely together. Drogba ended the season as their most productive forward, but he appears the most likely to move of the forward group to be moved on in the summer.

Even so, United will celebrate what was pretty a lot a title clincher. It hasn’t been the most beautiful of performances all season, but they have been dominant at home with 52 points out of a possible 54. Their road performances haven’t been great, but now they only want a point on the road next week and a 12th Premier League title will be theirs.
